Big Foot Boy
Ten year Rufus is dropped off at Victoria's, which is his grandmother's house. Rufus is having a boring day, and gazing out a window. Rufus sees a prickly black haired girl named Penny. She runs into the woods as Rufus follows. He is noticed and greeted aggressively. The next day Rufus greets Aurora, Penny's big sis. Rufus says his good byes to Aurora as he offers Penny help. Penny lures Rufus into her forest, and ditches him. As Rufus is wandering, looking for Penny he stumbles upon the Q'achi totem.. Rufus reads the totem, which Sasquatch is labeled on, and turns into big foot. As Rufus is moving along he meets a talking squirrel. The talking squirrel  says Sasquatch backwards, turning Rufus back to a boy. His squirrel companion steels a sheet for Rufus, because he was naked. Rufus falls upon  Penny, and Penny finds out about the Q'achi totem. Penny is determined to find another magic totem. She searches so long that Aurora calls the police and reports her missing. Later Rufus finds himself lost searching for Penny. Penny is cornered by a pack of wolves. Rufus finds Penny and the wolves, defeats the wolves, and rescues Penny. Rufus and Penny find their way back home. Rufus returns home the next day.

I think the theme of Big Foot Boy is be careful who you befriend. I hypothesize  this because Penny lured Rufus into the woods, then ditched him."Would you like me to help? See if I care!Hey Penny!Wait up!Oh Pennyyyyy!(p.27)" My second example is when Penny tries to convince Rufus to give up the totem."You know everyone's going to want that totem. Really? How do you know. Because I want it!(p.68)" My final reasoning for my theme is when Penny gets lost and held hostage by a pack of wolves, which puts the two in danger. "Penny! Rufus! Help! I went to look for another totem...These wolves... they trapped me here...(p.84)" These moments have lead me to hypothesize the theme of be careful who you befriend.

Big Foot Boy didn't appeal to me, because I did not like the plot. Somethings appealed to me like the illustrations. This just wasn't my type of book.
